Dr. Karthika Urkavalan is an Anaesthesiologist with over 6 years of experience in tertiary-care hospitals, high-volume operating theatres, multidisciplinary intensive care units, and pain medicine. She is dedicated to providing safe, evidence-based anaesthesia and perioperative care, with expertise in managing routine and high-risk surgical patients. She has gained extensive clinical experience across a broad range of surgical specialties, including general, regional, obstetric, neuro, cardiac, trauma, pediatric, orthopedic, urologic, oncologic, bariatric, and renal transplant anaesthesia. Her experience also includes the independent management of high-risk patients, including neonates, geriatric patients with multiple comorbidities, polytrauma, neurosurgical, transplant, and major oncological cases.

Dr. Urkavalan is skilled in advanced airway management, ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia, peripheral nerve and truncal blocks, monitored anaesthesia care, IV sedation, and perioperative critical care. She also has significant experience in intensive care management, mechanical ventilation, vascular access, point-of-care ultrasound, cardiac and thoracic anaesthesia, as well as interventional pain procedures including radiofrequency ablation. She has completed advanced professional training in pain medicine, regional anaesthesia, chronic pain management, biomedical research, POCUS, ACLS/BLS, and advanced trauma life support. She is also actively involved in academic teaching, faculty development, research, CME activities, and professional education for medical and allied health professionals. Her approach emphasizes patient safety, individualized perioperative planning, effective pain management, and multidisciplinary collaboration, ensuring high-quality anaesthetic and critical care throughout the surgical journey.
